Lightning Ridge to Bourke

Jim was very attracted to Lightning Ridge - he thought buying a mining lease, digging a hole in the ground and building a shanti with no building regulations to abide by was pretty cool. Me on the other hand didn't think 50 plus degrees days in summer were cool at all.

Not much between towns out here very flat - till we came across a bunch or to be correct a flock of sheep munching away on the side of the road. I have never seen so many animals in one place in my life - we are thinking 20,000 or so who knows I don't think the farmer would even be bothered counting them.

Got to Bourke - named by Major Mitchell after the Governor who gave him some money to go prove which way the Darling Runs. Speaking of the Darling everybody down here calls it Queensland water.

I forgot to resize my photos I will do it tonight and post them tomorrow.

Loving your blog and photos. Stunning image at the national park. Showed Dad and he said he thought Jim would like Lightening ridge and the car doors. Telescopes huge. Looking forward to your next post.
